Halk Korkusu Bağlamında Türk Korku Sineması Üzerine Bir İnceleme

Fear is one of the emotions that can have great effects on people. Fears as a community are built on common values. Western researchers have described the concept of folk forror as fear of a certain people and the gruesome, strange, horrible feelings of their rituals. In time, the meaning of the concept of folk horror has expanded and transformed. Fear of the people comes as a concept based on common fears rooted in the values that society has, cultural elements. In Turkey, it is possible to talk about the existence of fear elements such as Genie, Revenant, Goblin, as an example of the concept of folk horror. It is possible to attract the attention of a large part of the folk in most areas where the elements of the common values of society are present. The concept of folk horror, given this context, has an important part in the transfer of elements of Turkish culture. Studies on folk horror are emerging as a new area that is being handled by researchers today. In Turkey, it is possible to say that when looking at horror films, there are elements of the concept of folk horror. In this study, films from the Turkish horror cinema were studied and films that could be shown in accordance with the concept of folk horror. The aim of the study is to explain the concept of folk horror, while examining the transfer of Turkish culture horror elements to the cinema with an interdisciplinary approach and presenting recommendations in line with the results obtained.
