This article discusses the possibility of ethnic traces in the clothing and adornment in the 13th century according to the epic chronicle “The Secret History of Mongols”. Mentioned in Chronicle tribes such as Onggirat (Konggirad) ᠬᠣᠩᠭᠢᠷᠠᠳ, Kere’it (Keriyed) ᠬᠡᠷᠢᠶᠡᠳ, Naiman (Nayiman) ᠨᠠᠢᠮᠠᠨ, Merkit (Merged) ᠮᠡᠷᠭᠡᠳ, Tatar ᠲᠠᠲᠠᠷ, Borjigin/Kiyad ᠪᠣᠷᠵᠢᠭᠢᠨ ᠬᠢᠶᠠᠳ, Dörben ᠳᠥᠷᠪᠡᠨ over time, they have been independent countries as present ethnic integrated components of Kazakh, Uzbek, Kyrgyz and Karakalpak nations. The purpose of the study is the analysis of ethnic traits as well as possible in the early Mongolian clothing and to identify the related customs in the manuscript. The terms ᠬᠠᠷᠠ ᠪᠤᠯᠠᠭᠠᠨ ᠳᠠᠬᠤ (qara buluqan daqu / black sable coat), ᠪᠦᠰᠡ (büse/ belt), ᠠᠯᠲᠠᠨ ᠪᠦᠰᠧ altan büse/ golden belt) has been choose as the object of the article. As a result, comparing “The Secret History of Mongols manuscript’s “qara buluqan daqu”, “büse”, “altan büse” and the Kazakh “ishik”, “shekpen”, “beldik” (belt), “altın beldik” (gold belt) were compared and their similarities were shown. Meantime, named clothing in connection with adornment was contrasted as well. It was found that there are ethnic traces.
